Why the name

The name is the method. A node is something you can open: a work, a paper, a sale, a ruling. A link is the sentence that says why the next node follows. Without those sentences the site would just be a shelf. With them, it is an argument you can walk.

How a thread works

One domain asks the question. A novel asks whether a machine can love. A painting asks who made it. A song asks whose voice it is. The other domains take the question up, and every thread ends at the law, with a status you can trust at a glance: no law yet, bill proposed, case pending, decided, on appeal, settled. Some questions have no legal answer at all. The map says so, because the gap between what culture is asking and what law has addressed is part of the story.

Who it is for

Anyone who wants the connection, not a survey: a reader, a musician, an artist, a student, or someone who followed a thread to its legal end and wants to know where things actually stand. It is a map you walk. It is not a course, and it is not a place to file a claim.

What we are not

• Not legal advice. Each legal endpoint is a plain-language summary of public decisions, filings, and laws.
• Not finished. A denial of certiorari leaves the lower court’s line in place and does not settle every open edge. A label’s licensing deal is not every song. The threads stay open because the questions do.

How an edition is made

Connection sentences are drafted with AI help and labeled that way. A link is published only if it names its source. Draft text is reviewed by the editor and the owner before anything goes into a published edition. thechainofai.com changes only when that edition is published. High-confidence wording still waits for that review.

Each legal endpoint shows when it last changed in the edition history and what it said before.
